Warm Hearts Blankets: Finishing Off the Blanket, Sharing Photos of the Finished Blanket

Welcome to today's Lunchtime Crochet class! In today's class, we have something extra special planned. We will be finishing off our warm hearts blankets together. I am excited to see how your finished blankets turn out, so don't forget to share a photo with me. Let's dive right into the final steps!

To start with, make sure you have a pair of scissors handy. If you don't have them nearby, take a moment to grab them now. Once you have your scissors ready, we will proceed with fastening off. Fastening off simply means securing the last loop of your blanket to prevent any unraveling. Leave the hook in the loop for now, so you don't lose the last stitch, and cut off the end of the yarn. Leave approximately a 30-centimeter tail, ensuring you have enough length to weave in later.

Now, take the cut end of the yarn and insert it through the last loop on your hook. Remove the hook, and then tighten the yarn to secure that last loop. This step is important for securing your stitches. To provide extra security, especially for chunky crochet projects, tie a knot around the last loop. Wrap the yarn around the loop, insert the end through the loop, and tighten it. This ensures that even if the fastening off comes loose, your stitches will remain intact.

With the fastening off complete, it's time to flip your blanket over or choose the side where you want to weave in the yarn end. If you prefer the side with full bands, that's the front, but it's entirely up to your preference. To weave in the yarn end, simply pass it through the loops of the stitches, securing it in place. Use your fingers to weave the yarn in neatly, ensuring it doesn't come loose. As you reach the end of the yarn, tie a knot to keep it in place and prevent fraying. Give it a gentle tug to check if it's secure, and then trim off any excess yarn.

Congratulations! You have now completed your warm hearts blanket. Take a moment to appreciate your hard-earned creation. The snuggly feel of the blanket is sure to bring you joy. If you have any questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask in the comments or chat.

Don't forget your homework for today.
