Introduction

Welcome to Jonna Martinez's YouTube channel! In this video tutorial, Jonna will guide you on how to crochet the Ruby's Pineapple Medal II. This beautiful design is made possible thanks to a free pattern provided by Sara. Jonna extends her gratitude to Sara for allowing her to create this video tutorial dedicated to Ruby. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced crocheter, Jonna will provide step-by-step instructions to help you create this stunning crochet project.

Getting Started

Before we dive into the crochet tutorial, let's gather the necessary materials and select the right pattern.

Materials Needed

To complete this project, you will need the following materials:

  • Worsted weight mil ends yarn
  • F 3.75 millimeter crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Make sure to check the description box below for additional information and links to the materials.

Pattern Selection

Jonna has printed off the pattern for easy reference. You can find the pattern in the description box below. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the pattern before we begin crocheting.

Round 1: Creating the Base

To start, Jonna demonstrates how to create a slip knot and chain eight stitches. She then instructs us to slip stitch to the very first chain to form a ring. Next, Jonna chains three, which counts as the first double crochet. She proceeds to double crochet 23 times into the ring, resulting in a total of 24 double crochet stitches. Finally, Jonna slip stitches to the top of the chain three to complete Round 1.

Round 2: Adding the First Layer

In Round 2, Jonna begins by chaining four, which serves as the first double crochet and a chain space. She then double crochets into the next stitch, chains one, and repeats this pattern all the way around. By the end of Round 2, there should be 24 double crochet stitches and 24 chain one spaces. Jonna reminds us to chain one before slip stitching to the top of the chain three from the previous round.

Round 3: Increasing the Size

Continuing onto Round 3, Jonna chains three and double crochets into the first chain one space. She then places two double crochet stitches in each chain one space all the way around. By the end of Round 3, there should be a total of 48 double crochet stitches. Jonna slip stitches to join and prepares for Round 4.
